Job summary

Franklin International, based in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Plant Coordinator (or Shift Supervisor) for its polymer plant. The role reports to the Plant Production Manager and focuses on directing production staff to achieve output, inventory and quality goals while upholding safety and environmental standards.

This evening/night 3rd shift position largely covers operations, with occasional coverage of other shifts.

Qualifications

  • College degree and five (5) years technical manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience directing production employees to meet goals, safety and quality.
  • Ability to train and evaluate staff and manage shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct production employees to meet production, inventory, safety, and quality goals.
  • Allocate resources to meet production goals; investigate and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Communicate clearly with operations management; maintain data and reports.
  • Work with EH&S on safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Interview, select, orient, and train hourly department employees.
  • Manage plant employees across shifts, primarily 3rd shift, with occasional coverage of other shifts.

Franklin International , a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking aPlant Coordinator (or Shift Supervisor) for our Polymer Plant. This position reports to the Plant Production Manager and is responsible for planning and directing the activities of production employees to meet production, inventory, safety, and quality goals.

Fundamental Job Tasks
  • Meets production goals by allocating resources accordingly.Investigates, recommends and implements measures to improve production.Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the department’s efficiency.
  • Creates a skilled and motivated staff by ensuring that employees receive training and development consistent with their responsibilities. Evaluates production employees on a regular basis and recommends development measures.Recommends personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.Creates a good team spirit.Gains willing cooperation to meet production goals, safety and training efforts.
  • Ensures accurate and appropriate flow of information by providing clear spoken and written information to operations management.Conducts periodic communication meetings with department personnel.Counts, records and enters data into systems as needed to track performance.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures and formulas are followed in a consistent manner.Works with engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Service and Research and Development personnel on product and process modifications and product scale-ups.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by working closely with EH& S and observing all safety and environmental guidelines while handling products, raw materials and waste.

Responsible to interview, select, orient, and train hourly employees for this department.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for the management of plant employees. This is primarily a 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM) position, but at times will need to cover other shifts as needed.

Working Conditions

On occasion, this position performs work in a standard office environment.However, the majority of the time, this position is working in a manufacturing environment.The position will be required to wear appropriate eye, ear, face, head, hand and foot protection and is subjected to extreme noise and temperature variations, as well as strong scents.This position may travel locally, on occasion.
