Job summary

IPG in Virginia seeks a Plant Assistant to support the safe start-up and operation of cast line equipment. You will assist with changeovers, monitor production, and ensure adherence to customer standards, while following safety-first practices and IPS lean manufacturing guidelines.

This hourly non-exempt role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 2+ years in manufacturing, basic math and English communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate math and English written communication skills.
• General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
• Perform tasks with a safety-first mentality and IPS lean manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe, controlled start-up and operation of the cast line equipment including starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and assists changeover process.
• Inspects and measures completed pieces to verify conformity to customer production standards.
• Monitors and adjusts controls to ensure product complies with production standards.
• Coaching and mentoring of assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned
• Maintains equipment through completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.
• Records quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines, as necessary.
• Performs all work in a safety-first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
• Related tasks as requested by supervisor
