Job summary

Innovent in Wakefield, MA is seeking a Plant Accountant to own the plant’s financial operations, including AR/AP, journal entries, and reconciliations. This standalone role reports to the General Manager with dotted to the division controller.

You will consolidate data from the Wakefield operation for divisional reporting, prepare monthly statements, budgets, and forecasts, and ensure GAAP compliance and accurate inventory, audits, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• GAAP knowledge and MS Office proficiency.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Experience with ERP systems; Epicor and Onestream a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day plant accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, AR/AP, invoicing and collections.
• Complete month-end close by the third working day of each month with accurate GL balances.
• Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyze variances.
• Prepare quarterly forecasts and the annual budget; track capital expenditures and inventory counts.
• Maintain internal controls, support audits, and respond to inquiries from vendors/customers.

Position: Plant Accountant

Location: Wakefield, MA

Reports to: General Manager, Innovent; with dotted to division controller

Overview

The Plant Accountant is the finance function for Innovent, Wakefield, this is a standalone role, not part of a finance team. Ownership of plant financial functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, and account reconciliation, while consolidating data from Innovent Germany for divisional reporting. This position acts as the administrative engagement champion supporting the business’s Business Performance Plan (BPP), oversees the preparation of monthly financial statements, and ensures compliance with all legal and company policies and requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Manage day-to-day plant accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, customer invoicing, collections, payment processing, and order entry.
• Complete month-end close by the third working day of each month, ensuring accurate general ledger balances, check payments, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; analyze sales and financial performance; and explain budget variances to management and program managers.
• Prepare and upload quarterly forecasts and the annual budget
• Track capital expenditures and R&D expenses, and ensure accurate inventory counts, adjustments, and reporting.
• Maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial records; support audits, risk management, customer account applications, and required insurance reporting.
• Respond to vendor and customer inquiries, research discrepancies, and resolve billing, payment, and account-related concerns.
• Miscellaneous duties in support of the accounting and finance functions as needed

Administrative Support

• Provide administrative and communication support for local site activities and corporate initiatives, connecting the local team with the broader Standex/Engraving Group.
• Help communicate corporate updates and initiatives, facilitate information sharing between local and corporate teams, and assist management with site communications and employee activities.
• Serve as a local engagement champion by encouraging employee participation and supporting initiatives that promote collaboration, communication, and a positive workplace culture.

Education/Experience/KSAs

Knowledge and Skills

• Continuous learner and skilled communicator with the ability to reach collaborative solutions.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret business and financial data to make decisions that improve performance and drive desired business outcomes.
• Highly organized individual with GAAP knowledge and general office software and equipment.
• Experience with a variety of ERP systems and report-writing tools. Previous use of Epicor and Onestream a plus

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep knowledge and technical acumen in finance, ERP systems, and MS Office products
