Job summary

The Capital City of Montpelier, Vermont, is seeking a responsible Planning & Zoning Assistant to provide permit assistance to the public and perform administrative work for the Department of Planning & Community Development. This is a full-time, classified position (Grade 5) reporting to the Director of Planning and Community Development.

The starting pay rate is between $28.69/hour to $30.14/hour with an excellent benefits package. Montpelier is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with the public is important.
• A degree in land use planning or related field preferred.
• Ability to read construction plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide permit assistance to the public.
• Perform administrative work for the Department.
• Manage small programs for the City.
• Serve as the City’s E-911 coordinator and FEMA-CRS coordinator.
