Job summary

Eagle Mountain City seeks a seasoned planning professional to lead the Current Planning Division, coordinating reviews of development applications and preparing planning studies and ordinances. You will supervise junior planners and ensure compliance with city codes while working with the Community Development Director.

The role involves policy development, staff reports, and interaction with developers and the public to facilitate land use decisions in a professional urban planning setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of planning, zoning, GIS mapping, and development processes.
  • Ability to supervise staff and prepare technical planning reports.
  • Strong communication and public presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees current planning and development projects and coordinates reviews with City departments and external agencies.
  • Reviews subdivision, site plan, rezoning and other development applications for compliance with ordinances and codes.
  • Assists in preparing Planning Commission and City Council staff reports and agendas.
  • Represents the City at regional committees and public meetings; conducts feasibility studies.
  • Maintains records and supports implementation of land-use ordinances and growth management.
