Job summary

The St Helena Public Service is seeking a Planning Assistant to join the Planning Section to deliver sustainable land use and protect the environment on St Helena. Training will be provided for the right candidate, with opportunities to assist in applications, appeals and enforcement work.

You will be part of a team working in the Essex House office with planners, staff and the community, supporting statistics gathering and report preparation for planning decisions.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and ability to scan, sort and log information.
• Ability to gather relevant statistics and prepare consultations with little supervision.
• Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning applications, appeals and enforcement work.
• Support planning officers in responding to consultations and public inquiries.
• Help prepare draft planning reports for the Chief Planning Officer (delegated).
• Work with Planning Officer, Senior Planning Officer and Chief Planning Officer to meet targets.
