Job summary

WaterBridge Infrastructure is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to support subsurface evaluation and forecasting for our produced water systems. This role spans volume planning, disposal capacity analysis, and technical support to the commercial team, working with Operations, Analytics, Finance, and executive management.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in reservoir/planning roles in oil and gas, strong SQL & Python skills, and experience with disposal, waterflood, or injection modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program; Petroleum preferred.
• At least five years in reservoir, planning, or operations in oil & gas.
• Experience with injection, disposal, waterflood, or pressure transient analysis.
• Familiar with Class II injection wells regulations in Texas and New Mexico.
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and analytics; BI tools like Spotfire or Power BI.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; excellent communication skills.

Summary of Position: WaterBridge Infrastructure is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to support the subsurface and forecasting work behind our produced water systems. This is a pivotal technical role in a rapidly evolving sector of the energy landscape. The position spans three connected areas: volume planning across our business units and basins, subsurface evaluation of disposal capacity and risk, and technical support to our commercial team. You will work closely with Operations, Commercial, Analytics, Finance, and executive management, and will represent WaterBridge technically with customers and regulatory agencies.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Production Forecasting & Planning: Delivering the produced water volume forecasts across business units and basins. Maintaining type curves and reconciling forecasts against actual performance. Partnering with Analytics on forecasting tools, and with customers and Operations on schedule updates.
• Disposal Capacity & Injection Performance: Building and maintaining injection capacity forecasts across the disposal portfolio. Analyzing injection performance trends and diagnosing issues before they become capacity shortfalls. Evaluating the subsurface viability of new disposal locations, expansions, and growth opportunities.
• Regulatory & Permitting: Supporting the subsurface technical content of permit applications and amendments filed with state regulatory agencies. Preparing technical exhibits and supporting requests for additional data or hearings as needed. Maintaining a technical record that holds up under regulatory and third-party review. Evaluating containment risk for existing and proposed disposal wells. Assessing induced seismicity exposure and supporting monitoring and response practices. Identifying geomechanical constraints early enough to inform well placement.
• Commercial & Business Development Support: Reviewing customer development schedules and building risked volume cases with clear assumptions. Performing inventory and capacity analysis to identify constraints and the timing of capital needs. Providing technical support on new agreements, acquisitions, and diligence work. Serving as a technical resource in customer conversations about long-term capacity. Collaborating with operations and engineering teams on efficiency and asset optimization.
• Reporting, Budgeting & Communication: Supporting quarterly and annual volume budgets with Finance. Delivering regular forecast and performance updates to management, including variance explanations. Creating reports, KPIs, and dashboards that improve visibility across operations and engineering. Contributing data-driven insights in planning and strategy meetings.
• Technical Leadership: Reviewing and elevating the work of technicians and analysts on the team. Improving how the work gets done — better models, better data hygiene, and less manual reporting.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Petroleum strongly preferred; Chemical or Mechanical considered with relevant subsurface experience).
• Minimum five years of experience in reservoir, planning, or operations roles within the oil and gas industry.
• Experience with injection, disposal, waterflood, or pressure transient analysis.
• Familiarity with the regulatory framework governing Class II injection wells in Texas and New Mexico.
• Solid understanding of oil and gas production, processing, and transportation.
• Experience building forecasts and communicating uncertainty to non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytics; experience with business intelligence tools (Spotfire or Power BI).
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Produced water disposal or Class II injection experience in the Permian Basin.
• Geomechanics or induced seismicity background.
• Experience with regulatory hearings or technical testimony.
• Experience supporting commercial negotiations or acquisition diligence.
• Reservoir simulation or injection modeling experience.
• Field-facing experience at disposal or recycling facilities.

Working Conditions/Environment

• Operates in a professional and/or business casual office environment.
• Periodic travel to field facilities in the Permian Basin, estimated at 5-10%.
