Job summary

The City of Lexington is seeking a Planning and Development Services Manager to lead the Community and Business Development department, developing community plans, schematics, and policies, and reviewing site plans and special projects.

Applicants should have a degree in urban planning or related field (or equivalent experience), six years in urban planning or community development, supervisory experience, and be on track for professional certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture or a related field or four years related work experience.
• Six years of professional experience in urban planning or community development.
• Some supervisory experience.
• Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners or NC Certified Zoning Official or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
• Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state license with ability to obtain NC license within sixty days and good driving record.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture or a related field or four years related work experience

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm. Paid bi-weekly.

Nightly meetings, such as Planning Board and City Council, required.
