Job summary

The City of Lexington seeks a Planning and Development Services Manager to lead team efforts in developing community plans, review site plans, and steer policy initiatives within the Community and Business Development department.

Requires a degree in urban planning/design or related field, plus six years' experience and supervisory skills; AICP or NC Zoning certification (or ability to obtain in 12 months); NC driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture or a related field or four years related work experience.
• Six years of professional experience in urban planning or community development.
• Some supervisory experience.
• Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners or NC Certified Zoning Official or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
• Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state driver’s license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within sixty days of employment and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop community plans and schematics, comprehensive plans, preparing policies, reviewing site plans and special research and projects for the Community and Business Development department.
• Participate in Planning Board and City Council meetings and related scheduling.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm. Paid bi-weekly.
Nightly meetings, such as Planning Board and City Council, required.
