Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in national security, international relations, military studies, operations research, political science, engineering, data analytics, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Eight or more years of experience in Joint or Service planning, campaign analysis, strategy, operational design, policy, wargaming, or related field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Planning Process, campaign planning, deliberate planning, crisis action planning, and operational assessment.
  • Experience developing senior‑level planning products for Joint Staff, combatant command, Service component, or comparable national security organization.
  • Experience planning or analyzing wargames, tabletop exercises, seminars, or other structured decision events.
  • Ability to synthesize inputs into coherent recommendations.
  • Strong analytical writing, executive briefing, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to work with senior military leaders, civilian officials, planners, analysts, technologists, and interagency partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and analysis that integrates autonomous systems and AI into global campaign plans and theater strategies.
  • Develop deliberate planning, crisis action planning, campaign assessment, policy coordination, and senior leader decision‑support products.
  • Apply the Joint Planning Process and other planning methodologies to define problems and recommend actions.
  • Conduct structured analysis linking demand, threat, capability, force posture, policy, and resourcing.
  • Plan, facilitate, and analyze wargames, tabletop exercises, seminars, and planning conferences.
  • Coordinate planning inputs with Joint Staff, combatant commands, Military Services, interagency partners, intelligence organizations, and capability developers.
  • Develop assumptions, branches, sequels, decision points, measures of effectiveness, and campaign assessment frameworks.
  • Integrate technical assessments of autonomous systems into planning products without overstating readiness.
  • Prepare policy papers, information papers, decision memoranda, briefings, and executive summaries for senior leaders.
  • Maintain planning calendars, trackers, issue papers, and version-controlled artifacts.
  • Identify gaps between objectives and capabilities and recommend actions.
  • Represent LMI in Joint planning groups, wargaming forums, and senior leader engagements.

LMI seeks a Planning and Analysis Specialist to support a Department of War mission partner J5 in the development of global campaign plans that integrate autonomy into deterrence, campaigning, crisis response, and warfighting strategy. The specialist conducts structured analysis, prepares deliberate and crisis planning products, supports wargames, and connects operational demand to capability and resourcing decisions. The ideal candidate is an experienced Joint planner who combines strategic judgment, analytical rigor, and emerging-technology awareness.

This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.

The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead planning and analysis that integrates autonomous systems and artificial intelligence into global campaign plans, theater strategies, contingency plans, and supporting concepts.
  • Develop deliberate planning, crisis action planning, campaign assessment, policy coordination, and senior leader decision-support products.
  • Apply the Joint Planning Process and other approved planning methodologies to define problems, develop courses of action, assess risk, and recommend actions.
  • Conduct structured analysis linking operational demand, threat conditions, capability availability, force posture, policy constraints, and resourcing decisions.
  • Plan, facilitate, and analyze wargames, tabletop exercises, seminars, workshops, and planning conferences.
  • Coordinate planning inputs with the Joint Staff, combatant commands, Military Services, interagency partners, intelligence organizations, and capability developers.
  • Develop assumptions, branches, sequels, decision points, measures of effectiveness, measures of performance, and campaign assessment frameworks.
  • Integrate technical assessments of autonomous systems into operational concepts and planning products without overstating capability maturity or readiness.
  • Prepare policy papers, information papers, decision memoranda, briefings, and executive summaries for senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Maintain planning calendars, action trackers, issue papers, coordination records, and version-controlled planning artifacts.
  • Identify gaps between strategic objectives and available capabilities and recommend experimentation, acquisition, force development, or policy actions.
  • Represent LMI in Joint planning groups, wargaming forums, policy coordination sessions, and senior leader engagements.
Qualifications

  • Experience developing senior-level planning products for the Joint Staff, a combatant command, a Service component, or a comparable national security organization.
  • Experience planning or analyzing wargames, tabletop exercises, seminars, or other structured decision events.
  • Ability to synthesize intelligence, operational, technical, policy, and organizational inputs into coherent recommendations.
  • Strong analytical writing, executive briefing, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior military leaders, civilian officials, planners, analysts, technologists, and interagency partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting the Joint Staff J5, a combatant command J5, USINDOPACOM, or a Special Operations Forces planning organization.
  • Graduate education, Joint Professional Military Education Phase II, School of Advanced Military Studies, School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, or comparable advanced planning education.
  • Experience integrating artificial intelligence, autonomy, uncrewed systems, cyber, space, or other emerging technologies into operational plans.
  • Experience with operations research, campaign modeling, data visualization, or quantitative assessment methods.

Target salary range: $163,000 - 182,000
