Job summary

FloridaCommerce is seeking a Planning Analyst to independently evaluate comprehensive plans, amendments, and development documents under Florida statutes. The role includes preparing reports, ensuring consistency with growth management laws, and advising local governments.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of urban and regional planning concepts.
  • Knowledge of the development process and permitting programs.
  • Skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and negotiate effectively.
  • Computer applications, working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluates comprehensive plans and amendments and existing documents for growth management compliance.
  • Evaluates development applications and notices, preparing reports with regional issue analysis and recommendations.
  • Provides technical assistance to local governments and communities on planning issues.
  • Participates in interagency meetings, workshops, and public meetings as the Department representative.
  • Travels as needed to represent the Department on committees and to present to officials and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
