Job summary

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government in Lexington, KY is seeking a professional planner to perform urban and regional planning tasks in a defined area to help develop the community.

Responsibilities include preparing staff reports for zone changes, presenting to the Planning Commission at public hearings, leading staff and public input meetings, gathering and analyzing data, and contributing to the development and update of community plans and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban or physical planning, public administration, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, or related field with a minimum of six years of planning experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• AICP certification preferred.

• Prepares written reports detailing critical elements of plans.
• Responds to inquiries related to projects as they arise.

Skills

Bachelor's degree in urban planning

6 years planning experience

Valid Driver's License

AICP certification preferred

GIS experience preferred

SALARY

The minimum hourly rate is $25.190 per hour

This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in urban or physical planning, public administration, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, or another related field; and, a minimum of six (6) years of related planning experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Driver's License

GIS Experience Is Preferred

• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred

PURPOSE

The purpose of this classification is to perform professional, technical, and analytical planning in regards to urban and regional planning activities in a specified area to help develop the community.

• Formulates policies and develops and updates plans and regulations as needed
• Represents the division at events such as boards, commissions, and meetings
• Prepares written reports that detail critical elements of plans
• Responds to public and private inquires related to various projects as they arise
• Performs related work as assigned
