Job summary

Conrad Shipyard is seeking a Planner/Scheduler II to develop vessel build strategies and program schedules for new construction projects. You will collaborate with Engineering and Project teams to ensure milestones and production work packages are aligned with quality and safety requirements.

The role requires 5+ years in planning/scheduling within shipbuilding or marine manufacturing, proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Office, and strong organizational skills. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years planning and scheduling experience in shipbuilding or marine manufacturing.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and purchase technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (USCG/ABS) and QMS processes.

Job description

The Planner/Scheduler II is responsible for developing vessel build strategies, program schedules, and production work packages for new construction projects.

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop vessel build strategies in coordination with Engineering and Project Teams.
  • Create and maintain program milestone schedules.
  • Develop resource-loaded program schedules using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining facility utilization schedules.
  • Analyze workload requirements and provide manpower loading forecasts for assigned projects.
  • Develop production work packages in collaboration with Project and Program Managers for all project work scopes.
  • Ensure quality assurance and accuracy control requirements are included within work packages.
  • Coordinate material need dates with the Material Control Department to support production schedules.
  • Assist Production Supervision with physical progress tracking and evaluation of remaining work durations.
  • Develop and report production performance metrics.
  • Follow all applicable Conrad Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and production processes.
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of shipbuilding and/or manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and purchase technical requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with material specifications, including sizes, types, and grades used in marine construction projects.
  • Ability to determine material requirements and estimate quantities necessary to perform work activities.
  • Ability to compile, maintain, and analyze manual or computerized records while following ISO and QMS procedures.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards, including USCG, ABS, and other applicable agencies.
  • Ability to understand and apply company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and evaluate shipbuilding processes and production methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, logic, and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and develop effective solutions.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of planning and/or scheduling experience in shipbuilding, marine construction, or manufacturing environments.
  • Shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, or other government maritime programs preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Associate degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
