Job summary

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support planning, writing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance tasks across the factory. You will ensure safety, quality standards and efficient production of finished goods while working with plant teams.

The role requires monitoring equipment, performing safety checks, ordering parts, maintaining the CMMS (Queris), and contributing to safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Put on PPE and perform safety checks on equipment.
• Monitor machinery to support preventive maintenance and handle breakdowns.
• Assist planning and implementation of preventive and predictive tasks.
• Work with plant teams to identify and plan work.
• Plan work including parts ordering and execution, and assist with maintenance duties.
• Observe operations and provide incident reports and guidance.
• Assist with safety program development and implementation.
• Ensure timely completion of work and document performance.
• Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Queris).
• At shift end, secure equipment, complete paperwork and clean up.

The primary function of this position is to support the planning, writing and implementation of preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance tasks & procedures throughout the factory, while observing all safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met and contributing to the efficient production of finished goods.

Role and Activity:

• Put on all required PPE and Safety Gear, perform a safety check on equipment and ensure safety devices are functioning properly.
• Monitor equipment and machinery operations in order to serve as a resource to team members for preventive maintenance guidelines as well as unanticipated machinery breakdowns.
• Assist planning, writing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and procedures.
• Work with plant teams and maintenance personnel in identifying and planning work in the area.
• Plan and identify work including ordering of parts and planning the execution of work and assist with maintenance duties as required.
• Observe maintenance and production employees at work and provide observations, instruction and incident reports as required.
• Assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of safety programs and procedures.
• Ensure work is completed in a timely and satisfactory manner and ensure employee performance in work completed
• Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Queris)
• At end of shift, secure all equipment, complete all required paperwork and perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.

In this position, the employee will regularly work with and around others; in a wet and/or humid environment; in areas of high noise level; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast paced.

Cold Temperatures:

Parts of the facility, such as storage and production areas, may be kept at low temperatures.

Requires use of cold-protective PPE.

May involve standing, lifting, and walking in refrigerated zones for extended periods.

High-speed manufacturing floor with frequent movement, line assignment changes, and tight production timelines.

Standing for Long Hours:

Food Safety Regulations:

Employees must follow hygiene and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear (gloves, hairnets, etc.).

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $58,240 and $62,400 per year .
