The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Planner II or Planner III in the Planning & Zoning Department. The Planner II incumbent is significantly involved in a variety of plan review and long-range planning and development efforts of the city. The incumbent can perform professional planning work of moderate difficulty with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled as a Planner III. A Planner III incumbent requires a higher level of education, experience, and certification and is assigned additional duties and responsibilities from those listed in job description. A Planner III incumbent can perform professional planning work of high complexity and variety with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. A Planner III incumbent leads and/or is significantly involved in complex planning assignments requiring independence and judgment. To qualify as a Planner II, a Bachelor's degree is required in planning, public administration, or related field and 4 or more years of professional planning experience. AICP required within 4 years of employment. Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable. Current AICP preferred. Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field is preferred and can replace up to 2 years of required professional experience. Starting Salary Range: $60,088 - $63,623/YR. w/benefits. To qualify as a Planner III in Grade O - $80,194 - $84,912/YR., a Master's degree is required in planning, public administration, or related field and five or more years of professional planning experience and AICP is required; professional experience in project management preferred.
