The City of Durango’s Community Development Department is seeking a Planner I to help residents navigate the development process, review permit applications, and support current planning projects. You will participate in managing permitting software and the city’s vacation rental program as part of a collaborative team.

This role offers growth in municipal planning and welcomes candidates with transferable experience in GIS, environmental science, public administration, or community-focused work.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, environmental science or related field.
• 1 year of progressively responsible experience in urban planning or local government with transferable skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication needed.

Aufgaben

• Support planning projects through customer service, code interpretation, permit review, data analysis, research, and report preparation.
• Coordinate review and processing of development proposals including site plans, variances, and building permit applications.
• Explain code requirements to developers and community members; prepare informational materials and suggest code modifications.
