Job summary

Abbott is seeking a dedicated manufacturing scheduler at our Houston, TX site within the Vascular Devices division. The role involves developing detailed schedules, releasing ERP work orders, and continuously aligning materials and production to meet finished goods demands with minimal backorders.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 1 year of planning experience preferably in medical devices, and strong communication skills to operate in a matrixed, multinational environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year planning experience; medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications; ability to communicate at multiple levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides a detailed scheduling plan for subassemblies to support approved build plans.
  • Releases work orders in ERP and updates Kanban quantities to support build plans.
  • Reviews forecast data, backorder reports and updates to prioritize and expedite manufacturing jobs to prevent or clear backorders.
  • Reviews and updates material master data to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manages safety stock in partnership with purchasing.
  • Approves and creates rework or special work orders in ERP and closes outdated open jobs.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Houston, TX location in the Abbott Vascular Devices division.

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease.

Under general supervision, develops, maintains and communicates manufacturing schedules to build products which meet finished goods demands thus shipping products to customers in a timely manner. Creates manufacturing schedules to achieve zero backorders, a key performance indicator.

What You'll Work On
  • Develops and provides a detailed scheduling plan, largely for subassemblies, which supports the top level approved build plans, assuring quantity and mix are clearly communicated to manufacturing and other manufacturing groups.
  • Releases work orders in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and updates Kanban quantities to support build plans.
  • Reviews forecast data, backorder reports, and commodity/purchasing updates, including early warning signs, to prioritize and expedite manufacturing jobs to prevent or clear backorders.
  • Reviews and updates material master data on regular basis to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manages safety stock in partnership with purchasing.
  • Approves and creates rework or special work orders in the ERP system Review and updates outdated open jobs which require rescheduling or closing.
  • Partner with purchasing and warehousing to minimize and dispose of slow moving, obsolete and expiring inventory.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years)
  • Supply Chain, Business or equivalent preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year
  • planning experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year
  • working in a medical device manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

The base pay for this position is $50,700.00 – $101,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
