A municipal government is seeking a Planner I to perform urban planning functions, including reviewing planning applications and administering zoning ordinances. The role involves extensive communication with developers and the public, along with conducting inspections and providing information on planning regulations. Position Overview
The Planner I performs planning functions; review of planning and zoning applications, administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan, land use and development regulations and zoning ordinances. Assist in identification of issues/problems, research and data gathering, and implementation of plans. Position requires considerable communication with developers, engineers, design professionals, regulatory agencies and the public.

Must posses required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; one or two year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in professional planning and/or design work is preferred. Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems software, database management, PC Operating systems, and networking systems is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education which meets the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Must possess a valid Mississippi driver's license.
