Job summary

Valiant Integrated Services is seeking a Planner/Estimator to support project teams. You will review specifications, develop scope, prepare project work orders, and compile detailed estimates from RS Means data and supplier quotes.

Candidates should have 5+ years of estimating experience, strong MS Office and scheduling software skills, and the ability to work in teams to articulate bid inclusions and change orders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to articulate bid inclusions, exclusions and clarifications with owners and subs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling-related software (MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope and contents of project work order estimates.
• Process estimates generally within the range of $6K to $250K.
• Prepare trade scopes and backup docs for review.
• Solicit proposals from subcontractors and suppliers and evaluate for completeness and competitiveness.
• Develop options and recommend best value based on cost, quality and material availability.
• Maintain positive relationships with owners, consultants, engineers, subs, and suppliers.
• Assist project coordinators and customers with awarded contracts, including change orders and contractual issues.
• Track awarded contracts and assist operations with changes, extras, or procuring materials.
• Work with Project Coordinator to develop complete professional proposals (schedules, narratives, deliverables).
• Develop complete conceptual proposals to support business development.

VGS is looking for a Planner/Estimator to join our team!

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and required contents of Project Work Order Estimates.
• Process estimates generally within the range of $6K to $250K.
• Prepare detailed trade scopes of work and backup documentation for review.
• Solicit project-specific proposals from subcontractors and suppliers and evaluate them for completeness and competitiveness.
• Develop options and recommend best value solution based on cost, engineering, quality or availability of materials.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships and ethical practices with owners, consultants, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist project coordinators and the customer with awarded contracts and projects as required. This may include estimating/pricing change orders and facilitating the resolution of any contractual issues.
• Track and assist operations with awarded contracts and projects as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring materials, etc.
• Work with Project Coordinator to develop complete professional proposals, including all required information (schedules, narratives, deliverables.).
• Develop complete conceptual proposals to support business development and client maintenance Preferred Skills And Expertise.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience.
• 5 years' experience in construction coordination and program management.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project or other scheduling-related systems, and have experience working with RS Means and Bentley estimating software.
• Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, estimating techniques, and cost control.
• Ability to prepare proposals with minimum supervision.
• Must be comfortable working in teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
