Job summary

The Ohio Department of Public Safety is seeking a Planner 2 in Columbus to oversee project compliance and fiscal coordination for the Facility Management Office. This full-time role is based at the Charles D Shipley Building.

You will prepare memoranda, contracts, and other instruments, track funds with OAKS and Excel, and support bid activities. The position requires strong budgeting and planning capabilities, plus attention to detail and customer focus.

Qualifications

  • Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration)
  • AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Planner Supervisor, coordinates project compliance and fiscal matters for the Facility Management Office.
  • Assists in preparing memoranda, contracts, escrow agreements, addenda, and other instruments for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS).
  • Prepares bid tabulation worksheets, works with designer/architect in bid preparation and bid openings.
  • Tracks funds and expenditures for construction and maintenance using OAKS, Excel, and Facility Management Access database.
  • Recommends actions on cost overruns, release of funds, fund transfers and updates Facility Management procedures.

What you'll do as a Planner 2:
  • Under direction of the Planner Supervisor, acts as project compliance & fiscal coordinator over projects for the Facility Management Office.

  • Assists in preparation memoranda, professional services contracts, construction contracts, escrow agreements, addenda, agreements & other legal instruments for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS).

  • Prepares bid tabulation worksheets, works with the designer &/or architect assisting in bid preparation & bid tabulation at bid opening.

  • Tracks funds available &/or expenditures for construction projects & maintenance activity using OAKS, Excel spreadsheets & Facility Management Access database.

  • Recommends actions pertaining to cost overruns, release of funds, fund transfers &/or related actions & updates Facility Management procedures as required.

Qualifications

Option 1:

ASSIGNED PROGRAM AREA : Completion of an undergraduate core program or 24 months experience in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
