Job summary

Roche Diagnostics in Indiana seeks a field service technician to perform on-site maintenance, installation, and technical updates on Roche products, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with quality procedures.

You will diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures, document all activities, schedule maintenance, and maximize customer satisfaction while promoting clear communication with customers and team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 2 years of technical school or equivalent military training or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or networking/wireless networking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of electronics, electro‑mechanical systems, and information technology.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry.
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Ability to apply industry-acceptable practices and procedures for installing and maintaining diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site preventative maintenance, installation, and updates on assigned product lines.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures.
  • Document all activities in compliance with company quality procedures.
  • Apply industry-accepted practices to install, maintain, and upgrade Roche Diagnostics equipment.
  • Schedule and execute scheduled maintenance, modifications, and conversions as per department policy.
  • Ensure and maximize customer satisfaction with Roche equipment and related products.
  • Promote effective communication within the team and with customers to support satisfaction.
  • Complete and document service and customer account reports, updates, and e‑mail correspondence promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain expenses within departmental guidelines and manage inventory and company property.
  • Continue to improve the quality system and meet quality objectives through daily actions.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site preventative maintenance, installation, and technical updates (TSBs) on assigned product lines.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures.
  • Document all activities in compliance with company quality procedures.
  • Apply industry-accepted practices to install, maintain, and upgrade Roche Diagnostics equipment.
  • Schedule and execute scheduled maintenance, modifications, and conversions as per department policy.

Travel & Location

This position requires approximately 90% travel. The ideal candidate should reside within 50 miles of an airline airport (e.g., Philadelphia). Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $55,900.00 – $103,700.00 USD (annual). Actual pay will be based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role also qualifies for the company benefits detailed on the internal portal.
