Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA, seeks a Placard & Part Technician to create placards, ID plates, masking, and wire stamping under limited supervision. Requires strong reading of engineering drawings and experience with placard/marking shop equipment.

Travel up to 25% and full-time employment. Responsibilities include using Illustrator and Gerber Omega to design placards, producing exterior markings, and ensuring compliance with FAA standards.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret customer specifications and engineering drawings/specifications to determine color, font, dimensions and materials for placards/ID plates and masking.
  • Proficient with Illustrator, PDF files and Gerber Omega for drawing, layout and production of placards.
  • Operate placard/marking shop equipment including foil printer, sign cutting and engraving equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret specifications/drawings to determine placard requirements and create masks and wire stamping.
  • Draw and lay out placards using Adobe Illustrator and Gerber Omega.
  • Use sign cutting equipment to produce masking per exterior markings drawings.
  • Produce placards requiring foreign language text to meet registration requirements.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability of materials for FAA/compliance.
  • Verify placards and ID plates meet engineering requirements and assist installations.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 4 years graphic design experience and proficiency on all major shop equipment to include Foil printer, sign cutter, engraver, and wire stamper. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications that are specific to producing placards, ID plates, spray masks and wire stamping. . Position Purpose:Under very limited supervision, create and produce placards, identification plates, vinyl spray painting masks, and perform wire stamping, may include final placard installation. Tech Sr requires 4 years experience with graphic design and proficiency with all Placard/Marking shop equipment. Also, assists engineering in defining placard specifications and by creating graphics and descriptions that engineering can directly use in the engineering placard specification documents. Coordinates operations and support with outside departments to include off site departments as required. Assists and trains lower level technicians.

Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Required to read and interpret Completions customer specifications and engineering drawings / specifications to determine the proper color, font, dimension, and materials required. to create and install aircraft placards or identification plates, and to create spray masking, as well as perform wire stamping .
  2. Use Adobe Illustrator, pdf files and Gerber Omega software to accurately draw, layout, and produce aircraft placards. Additional software or machine operating systems may become required. as equipment needs dictate .
  3. Use sign cutting equipment to produce masking per Exterior Markings Drawings requirements for exterior paint application on Gulfstream aircraft .
  4. Produce placards that require foreign languages to meet foreign aircraft registration requirements .
  5. Maintain proper documentation of all work to include traceability of materials used during manufacturing to ensure compliance with all inspection and FAA requirements .
  6. Use precision tools to verify fabricated placards and identification plates meet all engineering requirements which may include installation .
  7. Operating Equipment Categories: Category 1: Programmable Gerber or other foil printer. Category 2: Programmable sign cutting equipment, Programmable engraver. Category 3: Miscellaneous equipment: Wire stamper, Inkjet printer, etc .
Additional Functions:
  1. Performs daily maintenance on equipment used .
  2. Complies with all standard operating procedures as well as safety and housekeeping policies .
  3. Adapts to sudden changes in schedule and priorities .
  4. Contributes to developing and implementing process improvements that improve safety and reduce cost using Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques .
  5. Monitors and maintains department materials inventory .
  6. Monitors aircraft schedules to support materials requirements .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Possess a working knowledge of the Gulfstream Policies and Procedures manual, Inspection Procedures manual, and pertinent Process Specifications.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
