Job Title: Salty Packaging Machine Operator

General Job Description

The Salty Packaging Machine Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of packaging machinery while maintaining continuous flow of product to the packaging lines. Responsibilities include making minor adjustments to the machinery, troubleshooting, maintenance, and record keeping.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintains shift documentation (e.g., Metal Detector and Batch Order Verifications).
2. Reads production schedule and plans accordingly.
3. Reads and interprets schedule in MicroStrategy.
4. Prints labels on different printers, choosing the correct program; moves eye and cleans printers.
5. Performs nitrogen testing.
6. Maintains operation of packaging machinery, monitoring codes, dates, and prices.
7. Ensures all packaging materials are available and maintains supply of roll stock.
8. Sets up and writes new programs for bag makers.
9. Edits machine micro logic as needed.
10. Creates and modifies code dates.
11. Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
12. Performs scale calibration and adjustments.
13. Operates packaging equipment, including case sealers and robot cells.
14. Plans ahead for machine changeovers and product transitions.
15. Monitors machine operation for proper seals, speeds, and product appearance.
16. Performs quality checks and handles product runoff.
17. Maintains clean work area and reports maintenance issues.
18. Practices safety and hygiene guidelines.
19. Stores supplies properly and keeps work areas clear.
20. Follows safety procedures for lifting and equipment use.
21. May provide leadership to packers and perform other technical duties.
22. May monitor seasoning application.
23. Mandatory overtime may be required.
24. Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Experience: 1-year production experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

Standing continuously, walking frequently, using hands continuously, and other physical activities as detailed in the original description.

Work Environment

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, loud noise, and occasional exposure to chemicals and heights.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting rate is $22.50/hour. Additional benefits include health, dental, 401k, and wellness programs. Total rewards depend on location and experience.
