Pizza Maker - FT (Food Services)

Our Melville store has an immediate need for a full-time Pizza Maker in its busy department. Our Pizza Makers are responsible for preparing pizza dough and cutting, grating, and slicing various ingredients used as gourmet toppings. Each team member must ensure that kitchen safety protocols are followed at all times.

Responsibilities

1. Preparing pizza dough, sauces, and toppings such as tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and meats.
2. Monitoring oven temperature and cooking times.
3. Preparing high-quality pizzas according to company recipes.
4. Monitoring inventory and placing orders for supplies as needed.
5. Cleaning workstations before pizza preparation.
6. Ensuring utensils and equipment are sterilized before use.
7. Plating or packaging pizzas appropriately.
8. Managing food order slips and ensuring timely completion of customer orders.
9. Disposing of expired or spoiled ingredients at the end of each shift.
10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience making pizza in a fast-paced pizzeria or restaurant setting.
• Food handlers license preferred.
• Proven food preparation and handling experience.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and bread making.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of sanitation principles and food preparation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English (reading, speaking, and communication).
• Understanding of NYS, local, and federal food handling and sanitation laws.

Working Conditions

Most time is spent moving on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, and reaching. May need to lift objects up to 30 pounds or more with assistance. Work environment is indoors with loud machinery and equipment, with possible exposure to temperature extremes and cleaning agents.
