Job summary

Unique Industries, Inc. seeks a trained PIT Operator Trainer to support the production department. This role trains peers on all PIT equipment, ensures safety, and helps maintain accurate pick standards within the assigned area.

The candidate should have two years of PIT experience and be able to read SOPs, perform basic math, and communicate effectively with leads and trainees. A strong safety mindset is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a PIT trainer or in training peers.
  • Ability to read and interpret SOPs and paperwork.
  • Two years of PIT experience with a clean safety record.

Responsibilities

  • Train PIT Operators on five PIT pieces of equipment and handheld devices.
  • Maintain pick standards and assist with department workflow.
  • Complete departmental paperwork per SOPs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and report trainee performance.
  • Support safety and efficiency initiatives in the workplace.
  • Develop relations with associates and supervisor teams.

About Our Opportunity

We seek safety-minded PIT Operators with good dexterity and attention to detail to train fellow PIT Operators and contribute to the production and efficient workflow within the assigned department, including maintaining pick standards for specific departments through the use of Power Industrial Truck /Mobile Equipment.The first shift PIT Operator trainer will be responsible for training PIT operators in their department. To be considered for the position, you MUST BE RECOMMENDED BY YOUR MANAGER.

Responsibilities

Include the following: (Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.)

  • Responsible for the following in the assigned department: picking/packing orders, shipping, receiving, inventory, training, and other general warehouse duties.
  • Assists withtroubleshooting problems with the work process and relays this information to leads and/or supervisors.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork for the department according to specific Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Trains all new PIT drivers on all five pieces of equipment to OSHA, Safety, shift change, and inspection requirements
  • Trains all new PIT drivers on all handheld devices to include care of, proper storage, and battery charging.
  • Provides trainees constructive feedback positively and professionally; communicates training concerns with supervisors regarding trainee performance
  • Assists with Training Standard Operating Procedures and deliverables for workplace efficiency and safety.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, even during stressful situations
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with all new and current Unique and temporary associates at all levels of the organization
  • Strives to build knowledge and skills continuously. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • A commitment to companywide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The requirements listed below represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability.

  • Ability to communicate with management and co-workers to meet departmental goals; Ability to understand written and oral instruction. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents; Ability to perform basic math.
  • Must be proficient in all P.I.T.: Turret Truck, Reach Truck, Walkie Rider, Sit down Counterbalance, Order Picker
  • Ability to maintain excellent Safety Record
  • Ability to observe the trainees to determine the efficiency of training, provide constructive feedback, and provide additional training as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work with minimal supervision
  • Two years experience as a Power Industrial Truck (P.I.T.) in good standing with Human Resources and Safety.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must attain and retain current Power Industrial Truck License in good standing
  • Forklift Train The Trainer preferred

  • Ability to use lifts, order pickers, and ladders is part of the job requirement. Must not have a fear of heights, ladders, or lift equipment.
Pay
  • We offer competitive pay based on job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, and geographic location.
  • The starting hourly pay rate is $18.00.
  • Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s compensation guidelines, and business needs.
