Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Pit Loader Operator to join our team in New Bern, NC. The ideal candidate will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated.

This role is responsible for safely operating a pit loader and maintaining the quality of product stockpiles, while promoting site safety by providing leadership to truck drivers onsite. Typical duties include operating a pit loader per guidelines, performing daily pre- and post-shift inspections, and conducting basic maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Experience in maintenance and operation of mobile/construction equipment.
• Six months of front-end loader operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate pit loader safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily pre- and post-shift inspections of work areas and equipment.
• Maintain safe traffic flow and operate around conveyors and crushers.
• Perform routine maintenance checks (tires, oil, grease, leaks) and report repairs as needed.
• Assist in training co-workers and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Martin Marietta is seeking a Pit Loader Operator to join our team . The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating aPit Loader and maintaining the quality of product stockpiles. The pit loader will maintain safe working speeds and promote site safety by asserting leadership of truck drivers onsite.

Clarks Quarry

New Bern, NC

Hours: 7AM 5PM, weekends as necessary

A typical day for a (n) Pit Loader Operator m ay include:

Operating a pit loader within the company guidelines and safety standards

Completing daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensures they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways

Performing pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor

Ensuring safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers

Performing daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function

Maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the site

Operating other equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed

Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed

Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you :

Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position

Have e xperience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants

Have s ix (6) months of experience in the operation and maintenance of a front-end loader ( preferred )
