Position Summary
The Piping Superintendent provides leadership and oversight for all piping construction activities on the Louisiana LNG project. This role is responsible for directing daily field operations, supervising craft professionals and subcontractors, coordinating work schedules, and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of piping installation activities. The Superintendent plays a key role in delivering work in accordance with project specifications, schedules, budgets, and company standards while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Field Supervision
- Lead and supervise piping construction activities for crews of up to 50 craft professionals.
- Plan, assign, and monitor daily work activities to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance oversight to craft professionals and field supervisors.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to maintain project alignment and productivity.
- Foster a positive team environment built on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Planning & Execution
- Determine workforce requirements based on project scope and schedule.
- Coordinate field operations to support established construction plans and milestones.
- Monitor progress and adjust work plans as needed to maintain productivity and meet project objectives.
- Collaborate with project leadership to resolve schedule conflicts and operational challenges.
- Oversee the effective use of tools, equipment, and construction resources.
- Ensure timely preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools, consumables, and equipment.
- Verify that crews have the necessary resources to safely and efficiently perform assigned work.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all project safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Verify that the latest approved engineering and design documents are used during construction.
- Ensure all design changes receive appropriate approvals before implementation.
- Monitor construction quality to ensure work meets project specifications, codes, standards, and client expectations.
- Ensure subcontractor performance aligns with project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
Technical Leadership
- Partner with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, and technical requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to resolve field issues and construction challenges.
- Coordinate engineering solutions with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Support piping system completion activities, including pneumatic and hydrostatic testing.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or international equivalent with 8–10 years of relevant construction experience; or
- 12–14 years of related heavy industrial construction experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience supervising piping construction crews in heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate teams, build positive working relationships, and drive results.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced construction settings.
- Experience on large-scale industrial projects such as LNG, oil & gas, refineries, petrochemical facilities, mineral processing plants, or power generation facilities.
- Working knowledge of applicable piping codes, industry standards, and construction best practices.
- Experience developing pneumatic and hydrostatic test packages, as well as verifying and witnessing successful system testing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of company construction work processes and Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Experience with project management and construction software, including Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and similar project automation tools.
- Previous experience supporting large EPC or LNG construction projects.
