Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Plumbing/Pipefitter Helper to assist with lay out, assembly, installation, maintenance and repairs of piping systems for heating, cooling and industrial processes. You will work under a Foreman on site, contributing to safe, efficient project execution.

Ideal candidates possess basic math, manual dexterity and a teamwork mindset, with a strong emphasis on safety and accuracy while supporting pipefitters and plumbers in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills including fractions and operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety rules and procedures on site.
• Assist with lifting, positioning and securing materials during installation.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools.
• Set up tools and provide Foreman with needed supplies.
• Handle materials as directed; assist with trenching.
• Backfill and tamp as directed by plumber/mechanic.
• Keep work area clean and restock materials.
• Cut materials and assemble subcomponents as directed.
• Work safely and follow health and safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

The primary responsibility of the Plumbing/Pipefitter Helper is to assist with lay out, assembly, installation, maintenance and repairs of pipes, fittings, fixtures of heating/water/drainage systems, piping, piping systems, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems according to specifications and codes. The Helper typically reports to the Mechanic or Assistant Superintendent on site.

A Day In The Life

• Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and devices during installation
• Perform minor maintenance on tools; clean tools as needed
• Help set up tools and equipment; provide Foreman with necessary tools and supplies
• Material handling as needed
• Performs hand trenching or assists equipment operators with trenching
• Backfills and tamps as directed by plumber/mechanic
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and restock supplies and materials as necessaryCut materials and make subassemblies as directed
• Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
• Ability to work accurately within precise limits or standards and evaluate information using measurable standards
• Ability to work easily and skillfully with hands
• Ability to repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be willing to work in a team environment
