Job summary

Bechtel Port Arthur LNG project seeks a Field Engineer to provide field engineering support, work planning, material management, quantity verification, safety/quality control, and system turnover coordination at the Port Arthur, TX site. You will contribute to safe, compliant field activities aligned with project requirements.

The role emphasizes hands-on field work, learning opportunities, and collaboration across engineering, procurement, and construction teams within Bechtel’s LNG

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2–5 years of relevant experience, or 6–9 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience walking down piping installation work packages and piping test packages.
• Experience with ASME B31.3 piping code.
• Experience with installing aboveground pipe and underground pipe, both metallic and HDPE.
• Experience with cryogenic piping is preferred.
• Ability to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings and sketches; plan construction methods and procedures.
• Initiate field purchase requisitions and prepare quantity takeoffs.
• Verify commodities in quantity tracking systems.
• Ensure a zero-accident safety culture and that equipment is safe to operate.
• Develop understanding of system scope for package development.
• Review inspection test plans and coordinate subcontractor submittals.

Project Overview

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. As the #1 LNG EPC contractor by installed capacity, Bechtel has the capability to successfully deliver a broad range of LNG projects through our integrated EPC self-perform model, strategic partnerships, and proven experience in LNG project delivery. Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

Work Planning & Packaging

• Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
• Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.

Material Management

• Initiates requisitions for field purchases
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities

• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control

• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Technical

• Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire

• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

• Reviews and approves inspection test plans
• Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals

Additional Information

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.). Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required that may include but not limited to nightshift, or split shift.
