Bechtel is seeking a Project Field Engineer for the Port Arthur LNG project in Port Arthur, TX. You will provide field engineering support, work planning, material management, quantity verification, safety and quality control, and turnover coordination to ensure work is safe, complete, and compliant with project requirements.

Education/experience: university hire with 1–2 years of experience or 5–6 years of relevant work experience; strong knowledge of construction and instrumentation processes;

Responsibilities

  • Work Planning & Packaging: Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Material Management: Initiates requisitions for field purchases; prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Quantities: Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Safety / Quality Control: Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area.
  • Technical: Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting engineering documents.
  • System Turnover Coordinator: Develops system and area turnover packages for turnover to startup and client.

Project Overview

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects.

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities

Work Planning & Packaging

  • Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
  • Contributes in planning construction methods and procedures.

Material Management

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Technical

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
  • Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire:

  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • RequiredUniversity Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of construction and instrumentation processes
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Experience with data management and /or database usage
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to proactively seek out missing information

Additional Information:Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to:extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.Some lifting may be required.Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
