Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation is looking for a Project Field Engineer for its Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in Port Arthur, Texas. The role entails specializing in work planning, material management, safety control, and coordination of subcontractors to ensure all activities conform to quality standards.

Job description

Project Overview

The selected candidate will be placed on one of our Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, with potential future mobility to other Global Business Units in different locations. The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience in energy (liquefied natural gas), manufacturing and technology (semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, data centers, fire power generation), infrastructure (aviation, rail, roads/bridges), mining and minerals (water treatment plant, mineral extraction, metal refining), or nuclear, security, and environmental (nuclear power EPC, power distribution, combined cycle, defense and space, environmental cleanup). Full mobility may be required as business needs evolve.

Job Summary

Provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and subcontract coordination. Recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities

Work Planning & Packaging

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities, ensuring preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.

Material Management

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Technical

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire:

  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Construction experience assigned to a construction site.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Experience walking down piping installation work packages and piping test packages.
  • Experience with ASME B31.3 piping code.
  • Experience with installing aboveground pipe and underground pipe, both metallic and HDPE.
  • Experience with cryogenic piping is preferred.
  • TEAMWorks experience is preferred.
  • Experience working on the U.S. Gulf Coast is preferred.

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
