The position is offered by SMR LLC, a member of the Holtec International family — a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry. Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers working on the next‑generation nuclear power plant.

We are seeking detail‑oriented and driven piping engineers to join our team. The piping engineer will be responsible for supporting the analysis and design of Class 1, 2, and 3 piping systems, ensuring their compliance with ASME Section III and project requirements. This role requires strong technical skills in piping stress analysis, experience using AutoPIPE and SmartPlant/Smart3D, and the ability to collaborate across design and analysis teams.

Specific Areas Of Responsibility
  • Perform piping stress analysis for nuclear systems using AutoPIPE in accordance with ASME Section III requirements (NC/ND).
  • Evaluate pipe supports and interface with support design teams to ensure proper integration and structural adequacy.
  • Develop and maintain piping design documentation, including stress reports, isometrics, and line lists.
  • Support Smart3D piping modeling and resolve layout/stress interface issues.
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to resolve design and analysis issues.
  • Support resolution of fabrication and construction‑related queries related to piping systems.
  • Assist in reviewing supplier documents and interfacing with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of work in accordance with internal procedures and applicable codes and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping analysis in the nuclear or related regulated industry.

  • Experience with non‑Section III piping codes such as ASME B31.1 or similar.
  • Proficiency with AutoPIPE.
  • Experience working in SmartPlant or Smart3D environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with cross‑functional coordination.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
