Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Piping Discipline Specialist to provide advanced technical leadership in planning, design, and execution of piping systems for complex facilities.

Qualifications

Your impact

The Piping Discipline Specialist Professional provides advanced technical expertise and leadership in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of piping systems for complex industrial and advanced manufacturing facilities. The position serves as a senior discipline resource, supporting project delivery while promoting safe, constructible, maintainable, and cost-effective piping solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the development of complex piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and routing solutions.

Review and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, equipment data, vendor information, specifications, and project design criteria.

Provide technical direction to piping designers and less-experienced discipline professionals.

Coordinate piping designs with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, architectural, instrumentation, and other disciplines.

Participate in 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, design reviews, and clash-resolution activities.

Ensure piping designs provide appropriate access, maintenance clearances, equipment removal space, and safe operation.

Support development and review of piping plans, sections, isometrics, equipment layouts, pipe support information, MTOs, and construction deliverables.

Ensure designs comply with applicable project requirements, industry codes, client standards, and Jacob's quality procedures.

Identify design conflicts and develop practical technical solutions that support project schedule, cost, safety, and constructability.

Provide technical support during construction, including field walkdowns, RFIs, design changes, and as-built documentation.

Support discipline leads and managers with work planning, estimating, staffing, scheduling, and work-share coordination.

Mentor junior and intermediate piping personnel and promote consistent application of piping design standards and best practices.

Drive design consistency, continuous improvement, digital delivery, and efficient engineering workflows.

Here's what you'll need

Degree, technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant piping experience.

Extensive experience in piping design, engineering, or discipline delivery.

Strong knowledge of piping design principles, industry codes, specifications, and construction practices.

Experience with 3D design/BIM platforms and multidisciplinary model coordination.

Ability to independently resolve complex piping design and constructability issues.

Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical/life sciences, data center, or other complex process facilities is highly valuable for Jacob's piping positions.

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $155,650.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
