Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer – Staff Engineering Technician for Advanced Power Generation. You will develop 3D piping layouts and model-based drawings using Bentley OpenPlant Modeler, supporting multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.

The role requires proficiency in CAD/BIM tools, adherence to project standards, and collaboration with design and field teams to ensure high‑quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in drafting or engineering design.
• Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
• Experience with piping design and drafting standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Functions in a project engineering technician capacity.
• Supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
• Applies foundational engineering principles to create and develop moderately complex design concepts.
• Uses CAD/BIM to create and maintain technical drawings and project deliverables.
• Provides technical guidance to other professionals to ensure quality and consistency.
• Applies BV standards, codes, and procedures to deliverables.
• Reviews design inputs to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.
• May coordinate with other design group personnel and support field activities.
