Job summary

Tallgrass is hiring a pipe welder for construction and maintenance of gas and liquid pipeline facilities in the United States. The role involves welding on pipelines, piping systems, and related equipment, plus reading blueprints and following detailed drawings.

The candidate should have prior welding experience, familiarity with micrometers, calipers, and metal properties, and be able to pass the Tallgrass welding test.

Qualifications

• Previous working knowledge and experience as a pipe welder.
• Knowledge of micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
• Knowledge of basic properties of metals.
• Basic knowledge of pipe SMYS grades and ANSI fitting pressure classes.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must pass Tallgrass pipe welding test prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform and inspect welding operations on pipelines, piping systems, well equipment, tools, support structures and other equipment.
• Layout, cut, fit, and prepare material for welding.
• Fabricate material from piping schematics and other drawings.
• Work from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
• Plan and coordinate pipeline shutouts involving hot and cold welding.
• Maintain safety and environmental standards and report concerns.
• Oversee construction/maintenance by third parties.
• Complete documentation and paperwork.
