Job summary

Adelphia Gateway LLC, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, is hiring a Pipeline Technician to perform operations, maintenance, and line locating across pipelines and related equipment. The role requires reading manuals and schematics, working outdoors, and ensuring compliance with OSHA/DOT/EPA rules.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 2 years mechanical work experience.
  • Associate’s degree with pipeline industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and use equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, and P&ID.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions; safety training required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests to markout facilities per standards and maintain records.
  • Locate facilities and reference points using maps, drawings and GPS.
  • Support pigging operations, compressor and meter station ops, and related troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including leakage and corrosion surveys.
  • Patrol pipelines and ROWs; maintain markers and monitor encroachments.
  • Collect and maintain operational data, logs, and reports; update as-built drawings.
  • Recommend equipment improvements and assist in training less experienced technicians.
  • Comply with safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.

Adelphia Gateway LLC, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, is seeking a Pipeline Technician to perform pipeline operations and maintenance activities, including operating, repairing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining pipelines, valves, actuators, instrumentation, electronic equipment, tubing, fittings, pig traps, and rectifiers. They will also conduct line locating activities; maintain rights-of-way (ROW), markings, and records; and support foreign line crossing and third-party excavation oversight as well as operate and maintain equipment in compliance with company policies, operational requirements, and regulatory standards while maintaining required operational task qualifications.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests to markout company facilities in accordance with accepted standards, including associated record-keeping.
  • Locate facilities and reference points using maps, drawings, and GPS technology.
  • Perform and/or assist with pigging operations, compressor and meter station operations, flow control equipment operation and troubleshooting, facility startups and shutdowns, combustion control troubleshooting, and troubleshooting of related subsystems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including leakage surveys, integrity surveys, cathodic protection surveys, valve inspections, equipment maintenance, and calibration.
  • Patrol pipelines and ROWs; maintain pipeline and aerial markers; monitor encroachments; and develop positive relationships with landowners.
  • Collect, calculate, compile, and maintain operational data, records, and reports, including maintenance logs, corrosion activities, tank gauging, pipeline patrols, leakage surveys, drip blowing, and construction inspections.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update as-built drawings as required.
  • Recommend equipment improvements and assist in training less experienced technicians, as needed.
  • Comply with all applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.
Position Requirements:
  • High School or GED plus two years of experience working in a mechanical related environment is required.
  • Associate’s degree with pipeline industry experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and utilize equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, alignment sheets and P&ID drawings.
  • Ability to appropriately react to visual, audio and other signals, including alarms and instructions.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA and state regulations) and Company Standard Operating Procedures including required documentation.
  • Required to work indoors and outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment with high noise levels.
  • Required to occasionally work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
  • Must be able to use physical force to lift, push, pull and operate equipment and tools.
  • Must be able to work in areas with limited access or cramped spaces.
  • Will work with or near hazardous chemicals and may be required to wear SCBA and restrictive PPE.
  • May be subject to overtime, 24/7 call out, extended workdays and/or workweeks, and shiftwork based on business requirements
  • Will be required to carry a cell phone.

This position is deemed safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) regulations. Among other things, employees in this position are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing and post-accident testing. PHMSA-required drug tests include testing for marijuana. The use of marijuana, or testing positive for marijuana, is disqualifying and will lead to removal from performing safety-sensitive functions as well as disciplinary action.

Compensation:

Expected base pay range for this role will be $53,500- $72,000.
