Perform intermediate-level work associated with the safe, reliable, and compliant operation and maintenance of natural gas pipeline and compression assets within the assigned operating area.
The position supports three compressor station sites, including two stations with three reciprocating compressor units each and one station utilizing turbine compression, along with approximately 250 miles of associated pipeline, rights-of-way, valves, measurement facilities, and related equipment.
Operators are responsible for the day-to-day operation and monitoring of assigned pipeline and compressor facilities and support pipeline operations, compressor operations, routine maintenance, inspections, pigging, valve operations, pipeline patrols, line locating and marking, One-Call response, excavation oversight/dig watch, damage prevention, construction activities, and emergency response.
The position requires operators to independently prioritize routine operating, maintenance, compliance, and damage-prevention responsibilities while responding to changing field conditions, abnormal operating conditions, equipment issues, construction activity, and emergency situations throughout the assigned geographic area.
Operators participate in an after-hours callout rotation that, when fully staffed, is normally structured as one week on call followed by three weeks off call. While assigned on call, operators must be available to respond to pipeline and facility emergencies, equipment issues, One-Call and damage-prevention requirements, and other operational needs outside normal working hours. After-hours coverage may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The rotation may be adjusted based on staffing levels, operational requirements, vacation coverage, training, emergencies, and other business needs.
Responsibilities may include DOT-covered operations, maintenance, and emergency-response functions and require employees to maintain applicable qualifications for the assets and tasks assigned to the operating area.
Perform intermediate level work related to gas and/or liquids pipeline system operations.
Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.
