Job summary

Plains is seeking a Pipeline Operator to manage crude oil movements, inspect pumping stations, and maintain accurate quality measurements. The role requires reading technical manuals, math and computer skills, and DOT compliance training.

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma, a valid US driver’s license, and be able to work outdoors in varying weather. Travel and on-call duties may be required, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must have pipeline knowledge and ability to manage pump station, pipeline and lease crude oil shipping responsibilities.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical operational manuals.
• Basic math and computer/PC skills.
• Must possess or obtain operator qualifications and complete Haz-Mat training; meet DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for petroleum product movements in and out of pipeline pump stations and custody transfer with carriers and customers.
• Routinely inspects pumps and valves for proper operation.
• Maintain quality and quantity measurement of crude oil according to Plains procedures.
• Perform monthly DOT tankage inspections and equipment inspections; maintain records.
• Inspect perimeter fencing and locks to ensure security and report infractions.
• Ensure routine and DOT compliance on ROW, equipment and valves.
• Maintain communications with Pipeline Control Center.
• Witness meter proving and crude oil shipments; run pipeline pigs as needed.
