Job summary

CES Consulting, LLC is seeking a Pipeline Inspector II to support our Maryland projects in Montgomery or Prince George's counties. The role involves performing inspections on the more complex WSSC water and sewer projects and working under the Contract Manager to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.

The Inspector II will train newer staff, interpret site plans, coordinate with contractors and local authorities, complete daily reports and timesheets, and assist the Pipeline Construction

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of water/sewer inspection experience.
  • Experience in water/sewer construction and related lining/repair methods.
  • Inspected at least four water/sewer contracts in last five years.
  • Possess or able to obtain: NASSCO PACP/MACP/LACP, ITCP or MD Rural Water Operator License.
  • Underground Utility Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card within one year.
  • MDDA SHA Flagger Certification within one year.
  • MDE Water Sampling Certification within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret site plans and ensure compliance with WSSC, SHA, county and local specs.
  • Inspect compaction and trench backfilling and review geotechnical reports.
  • Validate third-party inspections and observe compaction work.
  • Coordinate restoration work with contractors and local authorities.
  • Complete daily inspection, timesheet and mileage reports timely.

Over the years, CES expanded its services to include utility management, construction at-risk, and civil engineering services.

We are hiring a Pipeline Inspector II to support our client and growing team in Maryland in the Montgomery or Prince George's county areas. Consistent 40 hours and opportunities for Overtime

Position Summary

The Pipeline Inspector II will perform inspections on the more complex WSSC water and sewer projects. This position works independently under the general direction of the Contract Manager and provides guidance and aid in the development of Inspectors. Inspector II will assist in the training of new inspectors on the standards and practices of WSSC water and sewer projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Interpret Site Plans.
  • Ensuring full compliance with WSSC, SHA, County, and local municipality specifications.
  • Inspects compaction and trench backfilling.
  • Validates third-party geotechnical inspections.
  • Observes compaction work in the process.
  • Coordinates restoration work with contractors and local authorities.
  • Complete Daily Inspection Reports, Timesheets, and Mileage reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Pipeline Construction Division Contract Managers as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
Education, Certifications, And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 or more 5 years of experience in the inspection and/or installation of underground water and sewer pipeline construction.
  • Experience should include any combination of water/sewer construction, sewer-main lining, sewer manhole lining, replacement by excavation, and pipe bursting.
  • Experience inspecting at least four (4) water/sewer contracts within the last five (5) years.
  • Possession of at least one of the following certifications or ability to obtain : NASSCO (PACP, MACP, LACP), ITCP or Maryland Rural Water Operators License.
  • Obtain Underground Utility Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card within one year.
  • Obtain MDDA SHA Flagger Certification Card within one year.
  • Obtain MDE Water Sampling Certification with one year.
Requir Ed Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in new and rehabilitative pipeline construction and construction practices, procedures, and materials.
  • Knowledge of soil compaction and testing methods.
  • Knowledge of concrete placement.
  • Fluently communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge in reading and interpreting construction plans and contract documents.
  • Ability to compute volumes and quantities on construction materials.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed reports of daily project progress.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing and can work in a team environment.
  • Enter confined spaces, work outdoors in inclement weather, climb in and out of ditches and other structures under construction, and have the ability to lift objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Erosion and Sedimentation Control.
