Job summary

Garney is seeking a Pipelayer in Nashville to assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings for water, sewer and drain work. You will work with metallic, plastic, ductile iron, steel and concrete pipes, following safety guidelines.

The role requires 1-3 years of pipe installation experience, willingness to travel and to complete Garney's Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour, with the ability to operate pipe lasers and transits

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney (Rigging/Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10).
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area for pipe laying by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
• Assist equipment operators in placing pipe and materials.
• Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe and fittings in underground trenches.
• Assemble and install valves and pipe (metal, PVC, ductile, concrete).
• Join pipes with screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut pipe.

A Pipelayer position is available at Garney. To be considered for this position you must have previous experience with pipe laying. As a Pipelayer , you will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings. This includes, but not limited to, metallic and plastic pipe, ductile iron pipe, steel pipe and concrete pipe for water, sewer and drain work.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required
• Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe

• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
• Test pipes for leakage. Measures and cuts pipe
