Job description

GARNEY CONSTRUCTION

Pipelayer job in Richland, LA is available through Garney Construction. To be considered, you must have previous pipe laying experience. As a pipe layer, you will assemble, install, and repair underground pipes and fittings, including metallic, plastic, ductile iron, steel, and concrete pipes for water, sewer, and drain work.

What You Will Be Doing

1. Prepare the area for pipe laying by directing trenching and grading.
2. Perform laborer functions as required.
3. Assist equipment operators in pipe placement.
4. Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
5. Backfill around pipes using hand tools.
6. Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
7. Locate and mark pipe and fittings positions in trenches.
8. Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes of various materials.
9. Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and solvent cement.
10. Test pipes for leaks, measure, and cut pipes.
11. Promote Garney's goals and philosophies.

What We Are Looking For

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, or storm drain.
• Willingness to complete training and certifications such as Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, and OSHA 10-hour.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime.
