Job description

Siltech Corporation, a Canadian owned global provider of organo-functional silicone specialties, is looking to hire immediately a full time, permanent Pipefitter-Welder for our new Fort Erie Plant, a state-of-the-art, 200,000+ square foot manufacturing facility expected to be online in 2025. This position will initially train at our Mississauga plant and then relocate to the Fort Erie area.

This position is responsible for welding plant equipment safely and to engineering specifications. Performs other maintenance duties to support maintenance team as required.

Main Duties

  • Completes piping and equipment installations
  • Welds, threads and pipe fits in the shop and in the field
  • Welds pipe supports to structural steel members
  • Tests and performs quality control on pipe systems
  • Maintains equipment so it is available for production when required
  • Works with contractors on required project activities
  • Builds and installs required upgrades as defined by engineering
  • Recommends changes/upgrades to management for implementation
  • Assists the maintenance supervisor in managing the spare parts inventory
  • Is an integral part of annual maintenance shutdown activities
  • Collaborates with other workers to implement projects.

Knowledge Required

  • Must possess current welder/pipe fitter license (Red Seal)
  • Applicable welding certifications
  • Understands use of lifting and hoisting devices – chain blocks, etc
  • Experienced with process and utility piping installations
  • TIG, MIG, and Stick Welding Abilities for Stainless steel and Carbon Steel Systems
  • Field Welding and installation focused
  • TSSA certified to weld piping systems. ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 Piping Codes
  • Layout Experience for pipe routing from P&ID’s and/or isometrics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 3-5 years’ experience preferably in a Chemical Plant with confined space entries
  • Experienced working at heights.
