Job summary

WorleyParsons in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Pipefitter (NOT Rotational) at the Anchorage Fab Shop. The role lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, maintains piping and supports welders. 5-day work week at Worley Fabrication Facility.

Essential duties include selecting pipe types/sizes per drawings, cutting, beveling, threading, assembling valves, prepping for welding, and hydrotesting. Requires 3–5 years pipefitting experience, high school diploma, and knowledge of ASME/ANSI codes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' pipefitting experience in an industrial environment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, isometrics, P&ID's, and plan views.
• Ability to measure accurately and fit pipe.

Responsibilities

• Select type and size of pipe and related materials per drawings and specs.
• Inspect worksites to plan installation and avoid obstructions.
• Cut and bevel pipe using torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting equipment.
• Assemble and install valves and fittings.
• Prepare pipe for welding or join pipe and fittings by threading.
• Secure pipe to structures with clamps and hangers.
• Fabricate and install components for testing, including hydrotesting.
• Safely climb ladders of various heights.

The position is based in Anchorage at the Worley Fabrication Facility, on a 5 day a week work schedule.

Schedule subject to change pending the project(s) needs.

Job Purpose:

Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, maintains, and assists welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial processing piping.

Essential Job Functions:

• Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to drawings and job specifications.
• Inspect worksites to determine presence of obstructions plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other crafts.
• Cut and bevel pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting machine
• Assemble and installs a variety of valves and fittings.
• Prepare and fit pipe for welding by a certified pipe welder or join pipe and fittings by means of threading.
• Secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets or hangers.
• Use, interpret and care for the tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial project such as cutting torches, threading machines, grinder, beveling machines, round-up clamps, etc.
• Fabricate, install, position, or connect components, parts, finished products, or instruments for testing purposes, including hydrotesting.
• Safely climb ladders of various heights.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards.
• Advanced working knowledge of various piping system components such as valves and fittings.
• Knowledge of the functional operation and purpose OD the various piping system components such as valves, fittings, and expansion joints.
• Advanced working knowledge of the various sizes and grades of standard materials employed in an industrial plant such as bolts, gaskets, fittings, and valves.
• Ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information for drawings and specifications such as isometrics, orthographic, P&ID's, equipment arrangements, and plan views etc.
• Advanced ability to measure accurately, layout work, cut, straighten, bevel, thread, and fit pipe.
• Basic knowledge of Pipefitters Bluebook.
• Ability to determine mitered fittings and rolling offsets.
• Advanced ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information for drawings and specifications such as isometrics and plan views.
• Advanced working knowledge of various piping system components such as valves and fittings.
• Ability to determine mitered fittings and rolling offsets.
• Advanced ability to measure accurately, layout work, cut, bevel, thread and fit pipe.
• Advanced working knowledge of the various sizes and grades of standard materials employed in an industrial plant such as bolts, gaskets, fittings, and valves.
• Advanced skills working with overhead cranes and rigging.
• Ability to work with fabrication facility equipment including welding positioner, pallet jacks, band saws, shear, brake, iron worker, Wach split frame cutting saws, pipe band track torch.

Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, extreme cold or heat and high noise levels. Employee will work in an environment where there is risk that they will be exposed to toxic, caustic and/or hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment while on the job. The work generally requires routine walking, sitting, standing, squatting, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching and carrying items. An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in an industrial environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands.
