Pipefitter - Multicraft Mechanical Journeyman A
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and safety-oriented Multi-Craft Mechanical Journeyman to perform industrial construction, maintenance, installation, and repair work across multiple mechanical crafts including pipefitting, boilermaking, ironwork, and structural/mechanical assembly. This position requires a highly versatile individual capable of working in demanding industrial environments such as refineries, power plants, petrochemical facilities, manufacturing plants, and heavy industrial construction sites.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, and experience with welding, rigging, structural steel, piping systems, and heavy industrial equipment installation and repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, isometric drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Install, fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems, boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, structural steel, and related mechanical equipment.
- Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, grinding, threading, and assembly operations.
- Erect and align structural steel, pipe supports, platforms, stairs, handrails, and miscellaneous metals.
- Install and repair industrial mechanical systems including piping, vessels, heat exchangers, and structural components.
- Use rigging equipment, cranes, hoists, slings, and signaling procedures to safely move and position materials and equipment.
- Perform torch cutting operations using approved procedures and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and identify defects, leaks, alignment issues, or equipment malfunctions and complete necessary repairs.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, torches, pipe fabrication tools, and alignment instruments safely and effectively.
- Work safely in elevated areas, confined spaces, and outdoor industrial environments.
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, welders, operators, and other construction trades to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
- Follow all OSHA regulations, site safety procedures, company policies, and PPE requirements at all times.
- Complete required documentation, safety reports, inspection records, and daily work logs.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Journeyman-level experience in one or more mechanical crafts including pipefitting, boilermaking, ironwork, or millwright/mechanical maintenance.
- Experience in industrial construction, refinery, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, structural steel erection, piping systems, rigging, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, torches, and fabrication equipment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, industrial safety standards, and confined space procedures.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills including fractions, elevations, and layout calculations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced industrial environments.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, shutdowns, turnarounds, and night shifts as needed.
- Current TWIC.
- Must have own tools for craft.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NCCER certification or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Rigging, signaling, forklift, or aerial lift certifications.
- Experience with shutdowns, outages, and turnaround projects.
- Multi-craft industrial maintenance or construction experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and schedules.
- Familiarity with industrial construction best practices and quality standards.
- Ability to safely perform precision alignment, fitting, and installation work.

- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, standing, walking
- Ability to work heights or in confined spaced
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions
- Industrial construction sites (plants, refineries, warehouses, infrastructure projects)
- Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and moving machinery
- May require overtime, weekends, and shift work
- Ability to work in extreme conditions including: heat, cold, wind, rain, dusty, noisy or high-vibration environments.
