Job Title: Boilermaker - Multicraft Mechanical Journeyman B
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and safety-focused Boilermaker - Multicraft Mechanical Journeyman B to join our industrial construction and maintenance team. This role specializes in boilermaker craft, with responsibilities in the installation, fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, and related mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong proficiency in the boilermaker trade, possess well-rounded mechanical skills, and work effectively in challenging industrial environments including refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, isometric drawings, specifications, and work orders related to boilermaker craft.
- Perform layout, measuring and assembly operations on boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, piping, and structural steel components.
- Conduct inspections, hydrostatic testing, and troubleshooting to identify defects, leaks, alignment issues, or equipment malfunctions, and complete necessary corrective actions.
- Use rigging equipment, cranes, hoists, slings, and signaling procedures to safely move and position heavy materials and equipment.
- Install and align boiler components, supports, platforms, ladders, handrails, and structural elements securely and accurately.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, clean condition; follow site safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements at all times.
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, welders, operators, and other trades to efficiently and safely complete industrial projects.
- Provide accurate documentation, inspection records, safety reports, and daily work logs.
- Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor or industrial environments.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of multicraft/boilermaker operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Journeyman-level experience as a Boilermaker and in at least one additional mechanical craft such as pipefitting, ironwork, or mechanical maintenance.
- Significant experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or repair in environments such as refineries, power plants, petrochemical facilities, or manufacturing plants.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and job specifications.
- Proficient in rigging, and installation techniques for boilermaker-related equipment.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, torches, and metal fabrication machinery.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety standards, confined space entry procedures, and appropriate PPE usage.
- Ability to perform mathematical and measurement calculations including fractions, elevations, and layouts.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, shutdowns, turnarounds, and night shifts as necessary.
- Current TWIC card.
- Must own tools relevant to the boilermaker craft.
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCER Boilermaker certification, or completion of recognized apprenticeship program in boilermaker or related mechanical crafts.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Rigging, signaling, forklift, or aerial lift certifications.
- Previous experience in major shutdowns, outages, and turnaround projects.
- Multi-craft industrial maintenance or construction background.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities, especially in boilers and pressure vessels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and schedules.
- Familiarity with industrial construction best practices and quality standards.
- Precision in alignment and installation work.
- Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, standing, and walking.
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions.
- Industrial construction sites (plants, refineries, warehouses, infrastructure projects).
- Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and moving machinery.
- May require overtime, weekends, and shift work.
- Ability to work in extreme conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dusty, noisy, or high-vibration environments.
