Job description

We love our jobs. Do you? This position is located in the esteemed Architect of the Capitol, Library Building and Grounds, Maintenance Branch, Plumbing Section. As a Pipefitter Leader, you will troubleshoot, repair, and install pipefitting system components in assigned Capitol Complex work sites that include extensive grounds and arboretum, monumental historic buildings with a complex infrastructure.

The position is considered essential and is required to report during emergency closures.

You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.

Ability to lead or supervise employees in the performance of pipefitting work including:

  • Directing and assigning daily work tasks, tracking job order progress, and maintaining effective communication between workers, leaderships, and other trades;
  • Independently installing, repairing, and modifying copper, black iron, and PVC piping across commercial or residential plumbing and mechanical systems;
  • Executing effective field repairs and adjustments when drawings are incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable; and
  • Inspecting finished piping work and enforcing job-site safety.
