Job description

Leadman - Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers in a work crew, assisting the Foreman while working as a journeyman.

Summary

Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and production and processing systems.

Responsibilities

1. Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment according to job specifications.
2. Inspects worksite for obstructions and plans installation sequence accordingly.
3. Performs cutting, threading, bending, mounting, assembling, and installing pipes using appropriate tools and methods.
4. Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including testing for leaks.
5. Welds pipe supports and may observe or operate machinery for repairs.
6. Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, and equipment.
7. Assists in lifting and securing materials during installation.
8. Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
9. Adheres to safety and project rules, including respiratory protection if required.
10. Performs other duties as needed.

• Apply shop mathematics and visualize objects from plans and drawings.
• Work at heights and compare differences in objects.
• May require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of field-specific concepts and practices.
• Relies on instructions and guidelines; typically supervised.

Physical Requirements

Includes standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, balancing, and handling tasks, with varying frequency.
