Job summary

NSC Staffing is seeking Pipefitters for a San Diego project. You will layout, fabricate, install, repair, and test marine piping systems per NAVSEA and ABS standards on ship repair and modernization projects.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of pipefitting experience, with maritime work favored. You will operate pipework tools in shipyards and vessels while complying with safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of pipefitting experience, maritime preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up and Silver Brazing theory.
  • Ability to certify MT Braze (B-1) and MT Braze (B-2).
  • Able to read drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS manuals.
  • Proficient in US customary and metric measurement systems.

  • Perform blanking and pressure testing of tanks.

NSC Staffing is seeking Pipefitters with 2-5 years of experience for an exciting project in San Diego. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced journeymen to work on marine piping systems and contribute to significant ship repair and modernization projects. Position Overview:

As a Pipefitter Journeyman, you will be responsible for the layout, fabrication, installation, repair, and testing of various marine piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, and Engine Exhaust systems. You will work according to specifications, NAVSEA/Military standards, and other regulatory standards, such as ABS and the Military Sealift Command.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove, repair, target, fabricate, and install marine piping systems per regulatory standards.
  • Use equipment such as table saws, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power and hand-operated), drill presses, and brazing equipment.
  • Perform blanking and pressure testing of tanks (structural boundary testing).
  • Interpret and follow instructions, drawings, and work item specifications.
  • Provide direction and guidance to helpers and improvers as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in pipefitting, with at least 6 years of experience in maritime pipefitting.
  • Strong knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up and Silver Brazing theory.
  • Ability to certify in:
  • MT Braze (B-1)
  • MT Braze (B-2)
  • Thorough understanding of marine pipe fabrication, repair processes, and targeting.
  • Capable interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and familiarity with U.S. standard and metric measurement systems.
  • Physically and medically capable of wearing all required PPE, including hard hats, respirators, safety harnesses, and other safety gear as per OSHA standards.

You will work in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in industrial settings, performing pipefitting tasks on complex marine systems. The role demands precision, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
