Job summary

Billerud NA is seeking a skilled tradesperson in Wisconsin Rapids to maintain complex piping systems and related equipment. The role involves repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and hydronic systems, installing and troubleshooting steam and condensate lines, and performing welding and fabrication tasks.

Strong emphasis on safety and physical endurance. The successful candidate will train apprentices, read blueprints, and work with various trade tools while complying with regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must complete an Indentured Pipefitter Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Must lift 50–100 lbs regularly and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Must read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must work in hot environments and with hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, maintains, and installs complex piping systems and related equipment.
  • Locates, determines, and repairs malfunctions of hydraulic, pneumatic, and hydronic systems.
  • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots steam and condensate systems.
  • Welds, solders, cuts, and heats as required.
  • Assembles and disassembles pipe and related equipment.
  • Performs routine housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
On-the-Job Requirements -
  • Must lift 50-100 lbs. regularly, e.g., chain blocks, valves, pipes, etc.
  • Must do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and twisting.
  • Must climb and work in high places, e.g., from 8’ - 120’ elevated lifts, ladders, cherry pickers, manlifts, etc.
  • Must work in confined places.
  • Must work with hazardous materials, e.g., corrosive acids, resins, gases, etc.
  • Must work in hot areas.
  • Must learn to operate welding/heating/cutting tools and equipment.
  • Must wear protective equipment and clothing when required.
  • Must work with steam pressure piping systems.
  • Must operate pipe bender, pipe threader, hand tools and other trade tools.
  • Must read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must have a telephone and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the plant.
  • Must be willing to cross-train as a Multi-craft in the Millwright trade.
  • Expected to respond to call-ins, overtime, Sundays, and holidays as required.
Personal qualities
Qualifications -
  • Must have completed an Indentured Pipefitter Apprenticeship Program or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly.
  • Must not be allergic to corrosive acids, chemicals, fiber glass, resins, gases, etc.
  • Must have flexibility, reach, and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
