Position Summary

Plan, lay-out, install, test and repair all types of piping systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Maintain working knowledge of various types of pipe and pipe systems, including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued and fused joints
• Read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping efficiently
• Align, bolt, and clamp components of fabricated metal products for welding
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment via welding and threading
• Position and secure materials during installation; install all items per plans and specifications
• Distinguish different metal thicknesses and types
• Handle and apply rigging equipment manually
• Operate tools such as beveling machines, grinders, pipe threaders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and Saw-Zall
• Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports
• Hydro test piping systems
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities; determine time, costs, resources, and materials needed
• Inspect subordinate work for compliance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pipefitter Journeyman in a powerplant/industrial setting required
• Strong knowledge and skills for the position
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, and measurement tools

Requirements

• Must be able to move about a construction/industrial site constantly, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Work in outdoor and changing weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays
• Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms to access work areas, potentially exceeding 200 feet
• Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven spaces
• Complete tasks in noisy and dusty environments
• Move items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Possess required tools
• Follow safety and project rules; perform other duties as needed
• Pass drug, alcohol, medical, and background checks
